Jalandhar and Phagwara sit close enough on the GT Road that a Friday plan in one city is a twenty-minute decision about the other. October is also when campus calendars fill up: departmental fests, tournaments and one or two nights that are worth leaving the hostel for. This page is the monthly version of that list. It will not invent concerts. It points at the kinds of plans that are actually bookable, and at the live event pages for both cities.
This edition: October 2026. When the month turns, the list should be edited and updatedAt bumped. A stale “this month” page is worse than no page.
Start with what is on, not a blog’s guess
Event blogs go rotten in a week. The listings do not.
If you are hosting, put the event there instead of only in a WhatsApp status. A fest, a hackathon or a Sunday run that is not on a page is invisible to anyone who is new in the city. Creating it takes less time than designing another poster: create your event.
Campus, because that is the calendar
Phagwara’s year follows Lovely Professional University more than it follows a city festival board. Society fests, club nights and tournaments cluster in the weeks when classes are still in session and exams have not started. If you are inside LPU, your society’s own page will be more accurate than any city roundup. If you are visiting, check the Phagwara listing before you travel — campus entry rules are the college’s, not the event’s.
Jalandhar has a wider spread: NIT Jalandhar and the older city colleges do not share one gate or one fest week. Look at the Jalandhar listing by date, not by a single “the fest.” A tournament or a hackathon on one campus is not a city-wide holiday.
How those events get planned, if you are the one running them:
- How to organize a college fest
- How to organize a hackathon in college
- How to host a BGMI or Valorant tournament
Weekends between the two cities
Treat the pair as one map.
- A fest night in Phagwara is the plan if the listing shows a public event and you can actually get in. Read the ticket page for guest rules before you bring friends from Jalandhar.
- A day in Jalandhar is the plan when you want the city rather than a campus: food, a film, a ground. Do not assume a Phagwara event’s last bus matches your hostel curfew. Check the time on the ticket.
- A morning that is neither. A weekly run or football game only works if the meeting point is written for a stranger. If you are starting one, the shape is in how to start a run club.
October evenings cool down enough for an outdoor stage. They are also when sound and crowd rules get tighter. If a listing does not name a venue, it is not a plan yet.
Food and sport, without a fake top-ten
This page will not rank restaurants it has not checked this month. Use the cities the way people who live there already do.
- Eat where the event is not the point: a named place you have been to, with a time you can keep. A “food walk” in a caption is not a route.
- Sport follows bookings. A ground, a box cricket slot, or a campus court that the listing names is real. A “sports fest somewhere in Jalandhar” is not.
- If you are selling either of those — a food pop-up, a paid match — sell the seat on a page with UPI and a QR ticket, not in a group chat. How to sell tickets online in India.
If you run the event everyone is searching for
The search “things to do in Jalandhar” is won by whoever published a real date. For October that is usually a society.
- Put the venue, the gate rule and the price on the page.
- Promote it in the groups you are actually in: Instagram and WhatsApp without ads.
- Scan tickets so next month’s sponsors get a check-in count, not a guess.
